What is Black Music Month?
Presidentially proclaimed since 1979, Black Music Month celebrates the talents and creativity of African-American singers, musicians, and composers. For generations, African-American artists have created music that communicates across racial boundaries and expresses joy and sorrow, through spirituals, gospel, blues, ragtime, and jazz.
