There is any number of reasons a cat might show aggression toward someone they are not familiar with. In most cases the behavior is anxiety or fear based. When left home alone some cats might become anxious and when a new person enters the home they may respond aggressively. For some cats if the visitor begins to associate their presence with good things perhaps some canned food or special treats their anxiety might diminish.
