I have been wanting to do a project similar to the baja buggy in Make 14. Most of the steps seem doable with my experience (I have built RC car kits previously, have done some soldering, etc.), but I don’t have any experience with PCBs.
The author supplies schematics and Gerber files for the PCB, but after going to the site he recommends for fabrication (www.circuitexpress.com), I can’t make heads or tails of the quote form. There are so many options and I really have no clue what I should choose for the majority of them. Can anyone give me any recommendations here?
Also, once I do manage to get a PCB printed and delivered, are there any special tools or techniques I will need to know to mount the components? The leads on the PCB look much smaller then I am used to working with, and I’m scared of ruining an expensive board (or multiple boards)…
Thanks for any help!

Hi there,
I’ve been taking apart cheap chinese keyboards for a while now and they always seem to have the ‘membrane’ style controllers (which the keys press onto) and they always seem to have 3 wires headed to the controller circuits.
I’ve been interested in reverse engineering this, so I was wondering, is that serial, or what is that?
Anyone know?
