It is most appropriate that George W. Bush and John McCain are meeting behind closed doors because that’s where the two Bush terms were won. But we must remember not to attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. The good news is, what these two lack in leadership and integrity is made up for in arrogance and pig-headedness.

Bob Miller, You’re Way Too Cruel

I know better than anyone else that I use way too much passion to make my point. It’s just that until Obama came along I haven’t witnessed the soft-spoken words of gentle people being heard. I’m glad things are changing. Anyone can become angry – that’s easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way is not easy; at least it’s not for me.

The Spurious Hero

The hero label is possibly the most ambiguous term in the English language. Recently I mentioned in a speech to some fellow Republicans that Thomas Edward Lawrence, Dian Fossey, and Paul David Wellstone were my heroes only to have the expressions of those in attendance change from being interested to being indifferent. And things quickly went from bad to worse as questions started arriving like flaming arrows.
